Grant Overview

SAFE-T is a replicable audit framework that evaluates whether AI-powered transportation tools treat all communities equitably. Using Durham, NC as a case study — with real Census, NCDOT crash, and OpenStreetMap data — it demonstrates four audit methodologies any city can run to measure AI bias in volume estimation, crash prediction, infrastructure allocation, and suppressed demand detection.
